Creation of Snail
Location : Lacoste France
This brand was created while I was studying abroad in Lacoste, France, for my advertising class. We were prompted to create a brand inspired by our surroundings.
The design concept for Snail takes heavy influence from the organic rhythms of the French countryside in Lacoste. This brand was a collaboration with Ella Peters.
The name itself evokes the slow-paced life of the region, which is mirrored in the design’s emphasis on simplicity, natural textures, and timeless elegance. Snails, often seen in the vineyards, are symbolic of the careful and deliberate craftsmanship behind the wine. The visual identity of the brand draws on the natural elements of the land, vineyards, soil, and the graceful, winding movement of the snails, to create a design that feels rooted in the earth, yet subtly modern in its execution.
The Snail brand embraces an illustrative approach, using hand-drawn artwork that reflects the natural textures and patterns found in the Lacoste region. Photography that captures the serene landscape of the vineyards and the tiny, almost hidden presence of snails ties the visual language to the land’s authenticity. Historical references to traditional French winemaking are paired with contemporary art from local collaborators to produce a distinctive visual story on each bottle, making every design unique.
The bottles themselves are crafted with a focus on sustainability, using recycled glass that enhances the organic feel of the design. Each label is printed on textured, uncoated paper, offering a tactile experience that mirrors the raw, earthy elements of the region. Collaborations with local artists and the company Kiblind are showcased through dynamic, limited-edition labels, each reflecting the artists’ interpretations of the wine’s story. The brand’s pop-up events further integrate local culture by providing an immersive experience—blending wine, art, and community in a celebration of Lacoste’s rich heritage.
